Jerry Dorsey is the founder, co-director, and coach at Vollis Beach. He has been involved in developing athletes at all stages of their careers for many years. Jerry began his athletic career as a standout football and basketball player at Hopkinsville High School in Clarksville, Tennessee.
He was a preseason All-American at the City College of San Francisco, where he earned his spot as the second leading receiver in the country. Dorsey went on to play two years of Division I football for Indiana University. After his second season at IU, Dorsey was invited as a free agent to the Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers, and more. Ultimately, Jerry decided to play arena football in Greenville and Louisville. After multiple injuries, he was sidelined from the professional arena.
After finishing a successful football career, Dorsey became a highly sought after performance trainer for youth, amateur, and professional athletes. His main focus continues to use innovative and dynamic approaches to increase each athlete’s speed, agility, and quickness.
He fell in love with the sport of volleyball after being introduced over ten years ago. Dorsey has competed at the Open level against some of the best beach volleyball players across the country. In addition to playing volleyball and training, he started coaching in 2014. In 2016, he completed his USA Volleyball Beach Cap 1 Certification. Dorsey signed one of his first beach volleyball athletes to a Division 1 program (UNCW) in 2017. He continues to coach and train college-bound juniors and professional adult athletes.

As a member of the 16-1 Team Indiana team, Emily was invited to travel to Europe to compete against local national teams in Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy. In 2009, she verbally committed to play for Kennesaw State University (KSU), an NCAA Division I program as a junior in high school.
Emily earned All-Tournament Team honors (2014) and ASUN player of the week nominations during her career at KSU. She is currently still ranked top ten in school records for attacks, aces, and digs. In 2014, Emily studied and played for a local semi-pro team in Galicia, Spain while studying abroad, and also spent time coaching juniors while enrolled at KSU.
Emily moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 2015 where she began playing in local beach volleyball leagues and tournaments. After meeting Coach Dorsey, Emily started competing in Open level tournaments throughout the Southeast region. In 2015, she began coaching for Spike Volleyball Club (now Vollis Indoor). After four seasons with Spike, Emily Bean is now the co-director/head coach for Vollis Indoor and Vollis Beach after four seasons with Spike. She is dedicated to training and teaching junior players at the highest level. She continues to train and prepare for her own professional beach volleyball career.
